Frequently asked questions about Newborn with Props and Newborn with Props and digital Backdrops

-Where do the studio sessions take place?

The session takes place in the comfort of your own home. I bring everything necessary to you so you don't have to leave your house with the little one.

-When is the best time to schedule my newborn with props session?

The best time to schedule your session is before your little one is born, the sooner the better. This way you can rest assured that your newborn photoshoot will occur within 2 weeks of birth, the very best time to get the sweetest photographs! My weekly calendar fills up quickly and I only take on a limited amount of newborns each month. Let’s make sure that we have your session on the calendar before the birth so that you don’t have to think about it once the baby is born.  Once you book your newborn photoshoot session I’ll send you a detailed email with all the information you need to know, what you can expect from your session, how to prep yourself and your baby, and other helpful insights and tips.

-How soon should I have my newborn with props session after giving birth?

Newborns tend to stay sound asleep a few days after birth and because of this, we are able to gently move your little one into sweet poses. After a couple of weeks, this is not as easy to do. After the 14-day mark, babies begin to stretch and the poses won’t be as easy to accomplish.  After that period we can still do photoshoots but is recommended to go for a documentary-style photoshoot.

-We’ve got a date, what’s next?

Once we’ve agreed upon a date and it’s confirmed to be available I will send you a deposit safe link. Once you have paid the $50 deposit your session is booked! Dates/prices cannot be held without the deposit.

-What happens if the baby comes early or late?

This happens very often. When you book your date, I always leave dates available to move appointments around in case the baby's come early or late.

-What happens if I have to cancel?

Deposits are nonrefundable since when I book a date I can't give it to anyone else. You can always transfer the deposit for a future session within a year from the original date!

-Can I incorporate sibling and family photos with my baby?

Absolutely! Photographing your little one surrounded by family is an incredible experience for everyone involved. You will want to book the Family + Newborn session.

-How long will my newborn with props photography session take?

Your session will take between 1  hour  to-2.5 hours. Pausing to allow times for feeding and changing. The atmosphere is very relaxed and comfortable and the pace of our session will be determined by the baby.

-My baby is already born, am I too late to schedule a Newborn Session?

If I have an opening in my calendar I am happy to accommodate. Most often, however, I am booked out months in advance.

-What is the turnaround on my images?

You will receive your images 2 to 3 weeks from your session date and be able to view them in an online gallery set up just for you!

- Who supplies all the cute hats/headbands for the baby?

I do! I bring everything necessary for the shoot. You don't have to worry about a thing.

-What should we wear for the family pictures?

I want you to feel comfortable so I suggest wearing clothes that you can move freely in. I also recommend soft-toned, solid colors, avoiding loud prints and patterns so that we can keep the focus on the baby. If you would like a more traditional look, a black t-shirt is a nice choice but I have found that many of my clients like a more modern, light, and airy look with soft and muted colors. You can find a color palette I usually recommend right here.  For best results, you can mix and match these colors as you wish!

Frequently asked questions about maternity sessions

-When is the best time to schedule maternity photos?

Generally, between 28-35 weeks is best but every momma is different. Once you see that rocking baby bump appear, you’re ready so it’s best to schedule your shoot between the 28-35 weeks period while knowing we can always adjust the date depending on how your baby grows.

-What should I wear?

I want you to feel beautiful and comfortable so it’s good to choose clothes that inspire you to feel your very best in your maternity pictures. Be yourself, bring your own style. Solid colors work best and whichever color makes you feel most like yourself is a good choice. The same color palette you see up here is recommended for outdoor or indoor shoots.

-Do you provide makeup and outfits for maternity sessions?

No, I don't. Style is very personal and all mamas are different. I like them to bring their own personality and taste into the photoshoot.

-We’ve got a date, what’s next?

Once we’ve agreed upon a date and it’s confirmed to be available I will send you a deposit safe link. Once you have paid the $50 deposit your session is booked! Dates/prices cannot be held without the deposit.

-Me/My Partner are awkward in pictures!

8/10 of my mamas claim to be awkward. Don’t worry, I know, it’s a bit of anticipation mixed with nerves. I do my best to make you feel comfortable with me firstly. Secondly, I’m very observant of things that reflect comfort and ease in images. I’ll guide you if you feel a bit stiff but most of the time I receive a message after saying I made you feel at ease; that’s the goal! You’ll be focussing on each other and I’ll be focused on capturing that.

-Where does the session take place?

You choose an environment that is most inspiring to you. This could be your home, an outdoor location. If you don't know any good locations I know a bunch of great places around the NY and NJ area that we can choose from.

-Do you have a studio?

I do not, however, I know so many beautiful locations we can use as well as your own home!

-What if it rains?

We know there is often a chance of rain. If you think you can enjoy the adventure and make fun with it, let's go, I will shoot in any weather. However with little ones or if you don’t want to get wet we can reschedule to the nearest possible date. A light shower can make for an epic shoot and storms/clouds most certainly are my favorite but if it's torrential, hailing or lightning I’ll be in contact with you.
